RibbonLift - Weekend Facelift

in Indiana

The term "weekend facelift" has been used by the media and marketers to describe a range of procedures that can correct loose and sagging facial skin "in the time it takes to have lunch". Yes, the idea of getting facelift-like results with no scars, no anesthesia and no downtime is hard to resist, but can it be done?

The answer is yes, it can be done, but unfortunately most of the techniques being currently used have over-promised and under-delivered. In some cases, such as Thermage®, the tightening of the skin has been so subtle that it is difficult to distinguish between the "before" and "after" pictures. Other techniques, most notably the Thread Lift®, have shown significant improvement, but it only lasts for a few months.

The Weekend Facelift is a procedure performed in an office setting under local anesthesia. It will lift the jowls and sagging skin of the face through a small incision in the scalp adjacent to the ear. There are no visible scars, no downtime and the best part is: it works and it lasts.

The Thread Lift® is an older procedure, but it only lasted a short time because gravity caused the barbed threads to cut through the tissues. In the Weekend Facelift (also known as the Ribbon Lift®), a pocket is created for the insertion of a bioabsorbable device shaped like a ribbon. This ribbon has tiny prongs that lift and elevate the jowls and the skin. After several months, the ribbon dissolves and the lift is maintained by the internal scar tissue and collagen that has formed, just like a facelift.
