Fraxel® Laser
in Indiana
Laser skin resurfacing has been one of the most popular treatment options in the war against wrinkles for the past decade. The principle behind all laser skin resurfacing is the application of laser heat to the skin at a controlled depth, which stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen.
Early Treatments
The prototype of laser skin resurfacing was the CO2 laser, which was very effective at reducing wrinkles. But it unfortunately had a prolonged down time (red skin for months) and a higher-than-expected complication rate: scarring and abnormally light skin known as hypopigmentation. The problems associated with the CO2 laser led to the development of lower energy lasers, which were safer but much less effective.
Enter: the FRAXEL® Laser
Finally there is a laser that is safe, effective, and has no downtime: the FRAXEL® Laser. After you have been on our unique skin care program for 8 weeks, we will discuss how you would benefit from treatment with the FRAXEL® Laser. Using my private line of skin care products alone will improve the appearance of your skin, but if you want to take skin restoration to the next level, the FRAXEL® Laser offers the best combination of safety and effectiveness that has ever been available.
How it works
The FRAXEL® Laser is unique in that it generates an array of microscopic laser beams that can penetrate the skin without damaging the surface. Instead of having your skin peel off as with the CO2 laser, your old skin and pigment will gradually be removed over a period of weeks. During this time, new collagen will form beneath the surface, which fills out and firms up the skin to diminish fine wrinkles and acne scars.
Advantages
The biggest advantage of the FRAXEL® Laser is that it is the first laser treatment to effectively restore youthful skin with NO DOWN TIME. You can have your treatment using a topical cream anesthetic, put on some makeup, and go out to dinner.
- Because the surface of the skin is undamaged, the risks of infection and scarring are minimized.
- It can be used to treat the neck and hands.
- It has shown promise in the treatment of stretch marks that cannot be removed with a Tummy Tuck.
The one trade-off is that to get the best results, you will need a series of four treatments. However, because these treatments can be performed in our office under local anesthesia, the cost of four treatments is often less than one treatment with a CO2 laser.
